The
project includes the design and construction of the strengthening interventions
of the a three-storey building in Chalkida, so as to add two storey in height.
The strengthening interventions involve the re-design and construction of new
the building foundation, the construction of new shear-walls, the strengthening
of existing vertical elements of reinforced concrete by increasing the cross-section
with the application of new steel reinforcement, cast concrete and shotcrete,
increasing the confinement of columns with carbon fibre fabrics, the implementation
of shear reinforcement using epoxy resins etc.
The construction began
in May 2008 and was completed in two months.
