The project is about the strengthening of the shell of the cooling tower of Unit 5 of the Agios Dimitrios Power Plant in Kozani in Northern Greece, and the opening of a hole of 11.50m diameter. The strengthening of the tower was carried out with shotcrete, while the opening of the hole was done gradually with the gradual cutting of concrete segments weighing up to 2.5-3tn. The works were carried out at large heights from the ground (up to 35m) and were completed in 2 months in the summer of 2020.

The project involves a series of sub-projects for the repair and strengthening of the reinforced concrete buildings of an industrial complex in Aliveri, Evia. The buildings had sustained significant damage due to corrosion. The repair works invloved the removal of the surface cracked concrete, the removal of the corroded steel with sandblasting, the application of reinforcement corrosion protection, the jacketing with shotcrete, and new steel constructions.

The project was carried out between September 2019 and February 2020.

It is the retrofit of a 3-storey reinforced conrete building in Athens, and involves the construction of large external and internal steel braces and new RC walls, whilst individual existing members were strengthened with RFP materials or steel plates. A large part of the project was the strengthening of the 1,000m2 slab below the ground floor, which was severely damaged (vertical defromations up to 6cm!) due to large vertical loads and poor design. The strengthening of the slab was carried out with a combination of shotcrete below, and FRP laminates above.

The project had a budget of more than 500,000.00€ and was completed in just 45 days in July and August of 2018.

The project involves the repair and strengthening of the ground floor slab of an industrial building floor of 37.500 m² in Patras. The floor had been severely damaged, due to the settlement of the soil filling below the slab with crack opening up to 5cm. The repair was carried out on an area of approx. 20.000 m² and involved cement grouting (about 400,000 lt) below the slab to fill in the gaps and the repair of cracks of a total length of 20,000m with various methods, depending on the cracks width. It also involved changes in the 7.500m² cold storage rooms of the warehouse and various renovation works.

The burget of the project is approx. 1.600.000€ and the works that started in September 2019 are carried out gradually without suspension of the operation of the warehouse.

The project involves the design and construction of the interventions required for the strengthening of a 2-storey masonry building in Chalkida against seismic loads, so that to enable the addtion of two new floors. of reinforced concrete to add two new floors. Apart from the masonry walls, the building also had a small number of reinforced concrete columns. The design was carried out in 2019 employing the Greek Interventions Code, KANEPE.

The proposed solution included the strengthening with shotcrete jackets of most of the load bearing masonry walls, and the upgrading of the RC columns with FRP wraps.

All analyzes were performed using the SeismoBuild and SeismoStruct programs.

The construction of the project was carried between January and May of 2020.
