The project involved the extension of a supermarket in Patisia, Athens with the construction of a new reinforced concrete building, adjacent to the existing store. The duration of the project was just 3 months, between April and July of 2018, and its budget was 1.200,000.00€.

It included the construction of temporary earth-retaining structures of increased difficulty, due to the large height of the neghbouring buildings, and limited strengthening interventions in the exisitng building (shotcrete and steel plates).

The project involves the construction of the foundations of several steel buildings in an industrial installation in North Evia. In some of the foundations a lateral supporting system of prestressed anchors was employed, due to the high inclination of the slopes, where the installations were constructed.

The project was completed in 5 months (September 2014-January 2015) and its budget was 282,500.00€.

This project includes the geotechnical investigation and assessment of underground soil and groundwater conditions and the design and construction of the temporary lateral support system of a 5.50m excavation for the construction of underground basements of the office building on the roads Varatasi and Favierou at the center of Chalkis. The geotechnical investigation started with the preliminary opening of two investigation shafts in the area of the excavationand continued with the execution of a 12m rotary drilling borehole, in-situ testing and collection of representative samples for laboratory testing. After the completion of the borehole a standpipe piezometer was installed for the monitoring of the water table level.

Based on the results of the performed geotechnical evaluation, the design of the earth retaining system commenced for the selection of the appropriate lateral support system. The design was based on the in-situ soil conditions and the soil displacement restraints, due to the existence of buildings at the excavation boundary. The lateral support system included the construction of vertical steel HEB-IPB soldier piles, at various axial distances with a 10cm thick shotcrete lagging reinforced with a T188 steel grid and the local use of rakers for the reduction of soil displacements at the limits of the excavation with neighbouring buildings.

The project concerns the geotechnical research – evaluation and the research and construction of a special foundation of a four-storey residential building in the area of ​​Nea Artakis Evia.

Geotechnical research included the opening of a well and the drilling of a probe at a depth of 10m. The difficulty of foundation of the building was in the presence of a surface layer of 4.50m thick of a very soft and highly compressible high plastic clay. In addition, the water table in the area is found at a depth of just 0.70m from the surface due to the small distance of the plot from the beach.

The geotechnical intervention provided for the removal of the softer layer and the clay compressor (up to a depth of 4.50m where a constant background of disintegrating serpentine is found) and its replacement from stone to the foundation level defined at a depth of -2m from the surface of the soil. At the same time, drainage works were carried out to pump water and reduce the groundwater level.

The excavation of the plot (350 m²) to a depth of 4.50m took place within a single day with the use of a large 50tn crawler excavator and dozens of earthmoving trucks. Along with the excavation, the paving of the limestone was made of limestones of calcareous origin and a suitable granulometric grading based on the requirements of the study up to the level of foundation.n to change this text.
