This project involves the geotechnical investigation and assessment of soil
groundwater conditions and the design and construction of a permanent
waterproofing basement under the watertable level at a residential
building on Poseidonos Avenue in Voula, Athens.
The geotechnical investigation included the opening of three investigation
shafts and the execution of a 12.0 m rotary drilling borehole,
in-situ testing (SPT, permeability tests), collection of representative samples
for laboratory testing and standpipe piezometer installation.

Based on the results of the performed geotechnical investigation and evaluation
of soil and groundwater conditions, the waterproofing method was designed for
the construction of the underwater basement. Groundwater control, essential
for the completion of the excavation and construction works, was achieved with
the installation of a dewatering well and the 24-hours operation of the necessary
pumping systems.
